Wastewater Sewerage Treatment Plant Operator

The Linden Roselle Sewerage Authority is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Wastewater Sewerage Treatment Plant Operator. Position entails shift work 7 days a week. Candidate must have High School diploma or obtained equivalency; possession of a valid S-1 New Jersey Wastewater Operators License is preferred but not required. The starting salary is $47,461. Wastewater Plant Shift Operator

A major northeast Wastewater Treatment Plant is looking for a Shift Operator. Starting salary is $46,530. Under supervision, on an assigned shift, is responsible for performing operational procedures, minor maintenance, including painting and housekeeping tasks, at the treatment facility. Collects wastewater samples, maintains required log sheets, and operates a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment used in the treatment processes. Makes regular and scheduled inspections throughout his/her assigned area, recognizes, corrects or reports potential interruption/failure of equipment or process to the Operations Supervisor. Performs and/or assists Operations Supervisor in operational procedures during emergency conditions. Responsible for the good housekeeping of equipment and buildings in the assigned area as well as other employee areas of the Authority. Performs related and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Graduate Equivalency Diploma.
  • Previous experience in a water or wastewater treatment facility or related industry is preferred.
  • Previous education or training in a recognized technical institute or college in an area of study or training related to wastewater is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid S-1 New Jersey Wastewater Operators License issued in accordance with N.J.S.A. 58:11-64, et seq. is preferred.

Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Abilities

  • An interest in the operation of a wastewater treatment facility.
  • Working knowledge of safety practices in the operation of electrical and mechanical equipment and in the general performance of duties.
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment used in the wastewater treatment process in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
  • Must be reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must present neat, courteous and professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Must be thoroughly safety conscious when performing duties.
  • Must be in good physical condition because work at times requires heavy lifting and other physical exertion.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must possess a valid New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles Auto Operator’s license and have a safe driving record.

Wastewater Plant Instrument Technician

A major northeast Wastewater Treatment Plant is looking for an Instrument Technician. The purpose of this position is to provide instrumentation/calibration services, which includes but not limited to calibrate, test, installs, repairs, troubleshoots, inspects, maintains metering and recording instruments, controlling devices, data logging and display equipment, communications, and telemetry systems, and performs related work as required. The position will support operations, and other departments as assigned.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities; calibrate a variety of measurement and/or control instrumentation, including but not limited to controllers, indicators, and transmitters. Measurement parameters including but not limited to temperature, pressure, speed, weight, time, liquid level, pH, and conductivity/resistivity. Complete calibration data sheets in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) as required. Assist in managing contractors and reviewing their service reports to ensure compliance. Assist in developing calibration methodologies and drafting calibration procedures, which are consistent with the metrology practice and industry standards. Assist in identifying critical spare parts.

Qualifications are: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred, not required. 5+years of general calibrations experience. Experience working with electronic calibration management systems preferred. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with a degree of self-motivation. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to both works independently as well as team oriented.

Plant Electrician

Duties include but are not limited to preventative & corrective maintenance on electrical & mechanical equipment for the LRSA plant and pumping stations involving 480/240/120 volts, maintenance of electrical systems for buildings and grounds, pump valves, motors, controls, etc. Industrial electrical knowledge & experience is a must.

Requirements include good communication skills, possession of a valid driver’s license, knowledge & understanding of the maintenance procedures.  A high school diploma or equivalent training & experience in electrical & mechanical maintenance, at least 3 years appropriate experience.  Knowledge of industrial instrumentation and and experience and 1,460 volts is a plus.

Job Description

Current opening for Laboratory Technician. Laboratory is NJDEP certified to analyze 25+ parameters. Position will entail analyzing wastewater & sludge samples for inorganic, microbiological, & metals testing. Responsible for conducting analyses according to standard operating procedures (SOP’s), quality control protocol, and EPA/Standard Methods protocols.

Parameters include Ammonia, BOD, COD, solids, Fecal coliform, Cyanide, Oil &Grease, Phenols, Sulfides, pH, Dissolved Oxygen, Chlorine and Metals. Required to operate & maintain laboratory instrumentation & equipment, including troubleshooting & calibration checks. Prepare chemical reagents & solutions & microbiological media for analysis. Preserve & handle samples in accordance to protocol & fill out & maintain chain of custodies. Perform & report calculated sample results & complete data entry into computer.

Qualifications

A.S. degree in Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Science with 3 years experience in a wastewater laboratory or B.S. degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science with 1 year experience in a wastewater laboratory. Consideration given to residents of the City of Linden and the Borough of Roselle.
